So I'm facebook friends with my childhood friend whom I've known since I was in pre-school.

He posts a link to this with an apology to his almost 18 year old son.

http://middleagedmormonman.com/home/2013/10/fyi-18-is-not-the-new-19.html

He apologizes in the post saying he hopes he isn't putting his son under any duress to go when he is 18.

Huh? I know these people are hyper-TBMs from my facebook.

Where is the good ole "follow the profit"???

And does one year really matter than much? So if you "wait a year" you are going to be a better missionary? Is 19 the "new cool" age to serve?

These people...

I know right?

Seriously, young is young. I went at 20. So was I "more prepared" and was one of my 28 year old companions "more prepared"???

The difference between us and those 19 year olds was we were more world wise. If people want to get their kids street wise, then they will be "more prepared" regardless of their ages.

I didn't take the age change as the new age when all young men SHOULD go. I took it as an option. I know of several young men that are still planning to go at 19.

Optional. Hmmm. Maybe parents like my old childhood friend will start to regret pushing missions period. One can hope.

Here's an age option for going on mission: how about NEVER!
