I had to read this several times,I was in such disbelief!

A ward member actually asks would anyone like her spare tampons and even specifies the size!!

Where would we be without ward Facebook pages...

instead of giving them to GW or DI, she asked around; I see nothing wrong here, 'sorry'.

Once again I ask--is this from 'The Onion'?

Actually, she's probably pregnant.....again....but I don't see why she doesn't just keep 'em--they don't go bad, do they?

I'm seeing a surgical removal of baby making equipment.

This is why a two years supply isn't always a great idea.

She may have finished menopause and have a huge stockpile of them among the barrels of wheat and freeze-dried peas.

Bit of a bummer Jesus not coming back in a reasonable time frame.

They are expensive. I don't see a.problem. If I had had a lot left over, I would probably have asked friends if they wanted them. I wouldn't have done so on FB though.

I went through the "change" a couple of years back. When I found my stockpile of supplies I discretly asked my neighbor if she would like them since they were clean and still in their packages. She's on a tight budget and jumped on it.

I would never, however, plaster it all over facebook. It's just un-ladylike for me.

She could have donated them to a homeless shelter. I remember in college we had the director of a shelter speak to our sociology class & it came up that homeless women requested such items. They didn't have any because this type of item isn't often donated.

Once I hit menopause I gave away about 5 zillion pounds of pads and tampons to a dear relative. My legacy ... LOL.

However, I would never announce my bounteous supply on FB for all the world to see.

Come to think of it why in the hell am I posting this now to you all ... (wink wink)?

Senility I guess.

But I'm from the generation that doesn't see the need to hide or shield periods from other's delicate sensibilities.

After all, menstrual blood is kinda like mucus if you think about it. Do you hide the fact you need tissues to blow your nose (not counting Japan)?

Women need pads, tampons, Diva and Instead Cups, whatever. Women can be very picky about the sizes of their tampons and brands because our vaginal canals are all differently shaped and our flows are varied. If I had a bunch I didn't need, I would donate them to whoever needed them, even go public.

Really, what's the big deal?

If she had a true testimony of Relief Society homemaking--you know, the kind of commitment where you'd rather cut your own head off than miss an activity night, she would have donated her surplus tampons to the Relief Society sisters for their craft projects. Where's her holiday spirit?

The site that used to have the tampon nativity project took it down because of death threats.

So our "gentile" brothers and sisters don't feel left out:

Not a big deal....or maybe some people need to grow up. This shouldn't be any different than giving away Kleenex, razors or extra baby formula.

I am pretty open minded but the tampon crafts just did me in. The tampon turkey is just wrong, the tampon feathers look like turds, and the heart earrings looked like used tampons hanging from her ears.

I think they're supposed to be a joke, although some people might decorate their homes with them. To each their own.

Have no idea if it is a joke but the number and variety of items they made is amazing - even Viagra Cufflinks!!!

So this isn't embarrassing to post on a public forum with your real name to see if anyone in the ward wants tampons?

Good grief! Getting your undies in a wad (pun intended) because someone offers free tampons on a local Relief Society webpage? Women have periods everyday. Tampons are expensive. There is no expiration date if they are unused. We live in the digital Information Age to give things away. Get over it.

Agreed. I probably wouldn't do it on a public board but wouldn't care if someone else does. Many women are on a tight budget and tampons are not cheap. Besides,I hate to have things go to waste. Mature people can handle the mention of tampons.
