I need some help. I'm looking for scriptures, JoD quotes, etc... on the nature of the godhead, role of the holy ghost, etc... I know Joseph Smith's views changed over time, and that the Lectures on Faith make this clear. I'm just looking for any other quotes that clearly show these changing views, contradictions, etc...

You might look at JS's lamentation from the Liberty jail , where it becomes obvious that he still hasn't decided who is who .

... "and this is LIFE ETERNAL to know Thee and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent" ...

Joseph Smith: Jehovah is Heavenly Father

Brigham Young: Jehovah is Heavenly Father -AND ALSO- Adam

Temple Endowment (Ensign Peak): 4 figures: Elohiem, Jehovah, Jesus and Michael(Adam)

Temple Endowment (pre-1904): ADAM is GOD and the only one we have to do with.

Mormon Doctrine (post-1910 or so): Jehovah is JESUS

Temple Endowment (post-1904): 3 figures: Elohiem, Jehovah and Michael(Adam).

For over 50 years the Saints were clearly taught in sermons and in their temples that Heavenly Father = Adam.

Today Saints are taught that is FALSE doctrine -AND- Jehovah=Jesus.

Yes, I'd say the Saints are no where near "LIFE ETERNAL"

There were a few additions of "the son of" to the 1837 edition of the BoM.

For example, 1 Nephi 11:18. The 1830 edition reads:

"Behold, the virgin which thou seest, is the mother of God."

Whereas the 1837 edition reads:

"Behold, the virgin which thou seest, is the mother of the Son of God."

If memory serves, there were 4 or 5 of these "the son of" additions. The strange thing is there are tons of places in the BoM where JS (or whoever) DIDN'T make this clarification. So you now have the problem of the change in the first place, AND the problem of it all being terribly inconsistent.

"Most correct book", indeed.
