No one in our home is active Mormon. Spouse grew up LDS, but left the church (unofficially) a decade ago. Some of spouse's relatives are still TBM. One of them gave us the Preach My Gospel missionary-training manual for Christmas this year.

Or go through each lesson and make notes from Mormonthink refuting the validity of the topic and send it back as a new years gift.

You might want to hang onto it. Shows a lot of how missionary's are expected to think.

You should just send them a thank-you card.... and a gift-wrapped copy of "The Joy of Sex".

return the favor with a copy of any book that refutes tscc, written with a note of testimony of it's truthfulness.

Do they think they're going to convince you to go on a mission, or what? Should make a nice door stopper or something.

Even at my TBM-est, I wouldn't dream of giving that as a gift, and I'd hate to receive one. It's a combination sales manual / instruction manual. I still have my copy I got when I was in the MTC. It reads like a low-rent textbook.

Preach My Gospel is seriously the most superficial thing I have ever read.

I remember once on my mission I was doodling in one of the corners, my zone leader noticed and he was horrified.
"That is sacred scripture!" he said. How could I have had the nerve to defile it with my drawings?

Anyway, PMG is becoming pretty popular with some members, many even quote from it in their sacrament talks.

My tbm mom got into it before she died. I glanced it a couple times and it read a businesses manual to get new recruits. it was nothing special. Very bland and boring just like everything else the morg does!
