The answer is a simple yes, When you set aside God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost and declare yourself greater than them all - You did just that. See the 14 points of following the prophet (1980) by Ezra Taft Benson - adopted as doctrine by the Church. It says it all.
very little is "adopted as doctrine" by the Church these days. Things are thrown out there, quoted from, pointed to, used to beat the members over the head with (earrings etc.), but it always is in the gray area of "future plausible deniability."
They have been hosed too much with "if no prophet ever spake it before" and "God revealed to me" from Brigham Young. They've learned not to attribute anything to God unless they are SURE it won't come back to bite them. The last thing attributed to God in Mormonism was the priesthood "revelation" 35 years ago (unless you count Ezra Taft Benson saying God told him to tell the members to read the Book of Mormon).
I know of no time when Howard W. Hunter, or Gordon B. Hinckley, or Thomas S. Monson has claimed God told them anything to relay to the members. In other words, the "prophets" no longer "speak as a prophet."
