Mormons dont use porn.

It's true because I read it in this article and it made me feel good.

The only thing this article established is that Mormons rank 40th in the use of the THIRD largest pornographic website in the US. We would need the data from the top two providers in order see the data in proper perspective.

1) This is page views - so it doesn't address at all the percentage of users.

2) Since it is per capita, the dependent variable is the age of people living in the state. Utah has a much lower median population http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/census/median-age-by-state.htm. This makes it an apples vs oranges comparison - you are comparing the porn consumption of 6 years olds in Utah to 25 year olds in other states.

My father has a friend that does sting operations in Utah for child pornography and she told him that the amount of child porn that is viewed/comes out of Utah is the same as Southern California (20,000,000+ people)

So i don't buy it.

I don't need Mormons to be statistically high porn users compared to other groups to validate any of my decisions with respect to their religion. Still, I am interested in this data and curious to know why Utah would be lower than other states. For example, what if Mormons have a disproportionate use of internet filters, as encouraged by their leaders, and filters easily catch pornhub? Then their use of that site should be lower compared to other groups, but they still could be equal consumers of porn, just on sites that make it through common filters.

I an in Utah, I look at porn plenty and I dont use pornhub ever. That data isn't helpful.

Using Porn "less" does not mean Mormons do not watch Porn.
Rolling eyes. Seriously, there are a LOT Of websites out there. This one site is not the end and be all of statistics.

Further, are we really going to trust a porn site for accuracy?

Crap, even I don't know what pornhub is. I must be using #1 and $2 and awful lot.

I have a couple of thoughts here.

1. These are the people who find one mormon egyptologist to confirm their beliefs and they are convinced of the truthfulness. It amazes me how many stupid internet myths my mormon relatives just believe and pass on without even checking snopes.com.

2. The most repressed societies have the darkest secrets and practices often in direct conflict with their beliefs.

I heard a statistic once that something like 80%+ of LDS men in utah view porn. Lol. They are so suppressed they have to get it somewhere.

That is some serious abuse of statistics. Are we certain that the author isn't don bagley's father? He seems familiar enough with how to severely abuse things.

Check out Google trends. You can do your own research using key words like "porn" and see the volume of searches and where they originate.

As long as I can remember, Utah was always number one, or at least in the top ten, is the US for any porn related search word.

"pornhub" is way too overt. I used a lot of porn when I was TBM, but I would never have gone to a site that include the word "porn" in the actual URL, especially since the word "porn" was ingrained to be a very negative trigger word. xhamster and xvideos, the two most popular sites above pornhub, were much more comfortable to visit. Of course my personal preferences leaned more towards met-art and femjoy.

Regarding, Google Trends, should have said words related to porn, not just porn. I didn't want to make suggestions as to which words to use to get the trends results. I'm sure "femjoy" will get you Utah at the top as well.

Utah comes in near the bottom every time for harcore porn sites, like Pornhub. However, Utah comes very near the top every time for softer porn, like Femjoy, and generic search terms like "naked girls."

Great. Now I'll be on the computer alllll day doing "research".
