My dad said, "icky" when I drank tea in his presence. My son, who is five, said, "My mom is not a Mormon."

It was a rewarding parenting moment. I'm just surprised he could connect the dots like that because he has not been around Mormons and didn't not know that he knew Mormons are not supposed to drink tea or even that I was once a Mormon! :-)

I think the cycle has been broken! Phew!

You just nailed Mormon infantilization, Pepsi. Grandpa said "icky," and grandson said, "My mom is not a Mormon."

Which one sounds more mature?

That's what stood out to me too!

What a happy response! Your son must be a very smart little boy.

Way to go Mom. Now that is energy well spent, breaking your BIC cycle.

Can I interest you in the Mormon priesthood, and all its priviliges, rites, and responsibilities?

Nothing more rewarding than that moment of "realization" what a train wreck you saved your children from. Lds prison for those with no thinking power. Lifetime of struggles and insecurity. Parent and teach away from this disaster of society..

Buy that child a drink....of some drink he really wants, non-alcoholic! He is a kid to be proud of.

It's rude to say "icky" when people are eating or drinking something.

I'm proud of your five year old. Give him a big hug.

How does he know it's "icky"? Judgmental and condescending much? Better prepare a seat at the kiddy table for gramps next time.

You're obviously bringing him up right - well done to him and to you :-)

Tea is better for you than most "soft" drinks. Your family is better than all of TSCC. Congrats on raising a kid in the truth.

Giving up tea for mormonism is one of the stupidest things I did. I can drink tea (hot or cold) without adding sugar and it's not carbonated either. Then there's the issue of "teas" that don't contain teas leaves. Tea being a generic term. Some mormons will tell you they're okay, others won't drink them.

The other thing I really like about tea: you can make it strong or weak, and there are lots of flavors and varieties to try. Mormons just don't know what they're missing.
