Last night I watched Roman Polanski's classic "Rosemary's Baby" for the first time.

Something that struck me was the end scheme where Rosemary is being seduced with her own baby over to "the darkside." It seemed to remind me of when I was 5 and I was attending Hugh B. Brown's wife's viewing.

I was in a mortuary in SLC surrounded by old people. I was told that these were great men. I was put on Spencer W. Kimball's lap as he was sitting in a chair. It was one of those things that even though you are too young to remember much you remember.

Watching Rosemary's Baby I had a flash back to that moment in time. I was surrounded by old people who were creepy and self-righteous.

It must be like this for The Big 15. They are coven who just know they are doing God's will. Long live God!!!! And they will stop at nothing to get their way.

I was 5 and from a family where my parents tried to spend as little money as they possibly could on their kids. I didn't even know what money was. But if I had known...

But part two, Son of Rosemary was appallingly BAD. Interestingly enough Polanski worked closely with the author when he did the movie.

Yeah, well both Ira Levin and Polanski are misogynist pigs, so yeah. I hate that movie (and the book). I've read several Ira Levin books and it became patently clear to me that he hates women around the second or third book. All his female characters are insipid, dependent, vapid morons.

Things Rosemary's baby and the 15 have in common:

They get fussy at nap time
Their food is pureed
Bald heads
Completely dependent
Spontaneous(?) crying
Diapers
Spawn of Satan

Other are...

They're creepy.
They're old.
They have terrible fashion sense.
They can tempt one with power over people.
They meet in secret and perform rituals.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

I read Ira Levin's book This Perfect Day, while I was a Mormon Missionary, in 1970, when it first came out. I thought it was very well written. It had an important impact to my "backsliding". Sense then, I have given that book to several people, when they return the book, they usually say,"you are one of the incurables" which I reply "thank you/god"!
I have read all of Levin's books, This Perfect Day is my favorite.
With the new NSA computer in Utah… hummm
I wonder how many of "US RFM's" are "incurable"...
