The 10,000 hour rule claims that the key to success in any field is, to a large extent, a matter of practicing a specific task for a total of around 10,000 hours. A missionary is enveloped in cult related things for all waking hours for two years. If a typical missionary is awake from 6AM to 10PM he will have 16 hours a day dedicated to the cult. Over 2 years that brings the total number of hours to 11,680. A mission has many ridiculous rules that the missionary must follow. After the mission is over, the missionary will be very successful at following rules which is exactly what the cult wants.
