Because of a TBM child that still lives at home, we get emails from the local ward. These two "urgent" ones just came through:
First one's subject: "HELP CLEANING THE TEMPLE!
We are still working to fill the assignment for this Saturday, August 16, to clean the temple from 6 - 9 pm... Please email me at <redacted> if you would like to take part in this opportunity.
If you participate, you are welcome to attend the 4 pm session and then stay for the cleaning, or you can just show up for the cleaning at 6 pm. You will be provided clothing, but need to bring your own shoes, preferably white tennis shoes, or as close as possible to that."
Oh to be so privileged as to have the "opportunity" to participate in cleaning the temple for free and to attend the session immediately preceding the free labor...but you better own white or "as close as possible" tennis shoes! Wouldn't you wear the stupid booties over them anyway like at the temple open houses (if they still do that)?
Second one's subject: "CANOPIES NEEDED FOR THE STAKE FAIR!
Do you have any canopies that can be used for the Stake Fair? They provide much needed shade for the booths, as well as attendee cover during the rainstorms ( which happen almost every year for at least 10 minutes).
If you do have one could you please email <redacted>. The canopies will be labeled and taken care of. And you can pick them up right after clean up after the fair ( around 7:30) They need 3 - 10 per ward! So go in you old shed in the backyard and pull one or two out to donate."
I thought the church owned canopies for stuff like this? Wonder how many of the canopies will be accidentally misplaced or mislabeled since they are being "donated"?
