The bassist and founding member of Cream, Jack Bruce has left the stage for the last time...... :(

Had my first serving of Cream at a girlfiend's off-campus apt at the Why, 1968.

My ears have never been the same.

His vocal chords were as soulful as his bass chords.

And he was right all along.....we're going wrong:

I loved his song, "Theme For an Imaginary Western."

I think it was a cover tune from Mountain. It was on an old eight track tape. Maybe a best of collection.

Well you're right, I remember Mountain jammed with Jack but he had put it out on SFAT beforehand:

Reflecting back on Jack...

The world cried when Cream broke up because no one could imagine a why rock sensation would turn away from the glitz and glamour and 'clapton and is godhood' and simply walk away and follow his heart rather than his financial manager.

He has been ble$$ed far beyond the bucks and cheap rockpoppapparazzi life.

Not a fake bone in that skeleton we must now reverently lay to rest.

I think Jack Bruce left Cream because of Ginger Baker's personality...or facsimile thereof.

Although Clapton had some great notes inside of him, he always needed someone else to provide the energy. Jack was great for that, for example on that classic "Crossroads" version from 1967.

It was inevitable that Jack would leave the spotlight; he had to get out in the fresh air again. For that he has my deepest respect. I recently saw a video of him with Mick Taylor, another refugee, from 1975 I believe. Not powerful music, nothing grandiose about it, but they were having fun. That's how his music started out, and I'm sure he returned to the source many times before he died.

RIP forever.

No.... but ya know what?

Another huge icon of my misspent hippy youth was a Mormon!

Word never reached my corner of the moridor in 64 that some crazy Canadian dudes I was listening to were in fact in tune and one of them was a Mormon....and they still leaving chills all over me body.....

....and i'm shakin all over!

Bet you can't guess who ;)

I sometimes try to economize on webspace, but yeah, I wuz a Moe and Jack never was anything but a scotsman with the urge to boogie woogie.

I'm so glad.

I'm glad .

I'm glad!
