"The Church" as my family calls the LDS religion claims to be "Restored". It claims to be the same church as the prophets of old were involved in. How can it be restored when it changes with each new prophet? Why bother? The LDS has not been the same as it was 40 years ago. I think they lie.

Exactly. If ancient truth was restored, that truth wouldn't keep changing. Any older Mormon or ex-mo can name dozens of doctrines, pulpit-proclaimed as eternal revelation straight from God, that TSCC has changed multiple times, shoved down the memory hole, or vaguely claimed they don't know anything about or never taught. The fact that it does keep changing and they keep trying to bury the old versions is proof that they are NOT receiving revelation from God.

If they were, they'd be saying, "God wants us to change this teaching, because now we're ready for more light and additional knowledge. Here's the advanced doctrine we've all been waiting for."

The LDS church is ostensibly the same as the so-called "ancient church," modeled in every way after the church said to be established by Jesus himself when he lived on the earth. It could only be this so long as Jesus himself conducted large-scale agri-business, traded water rights, and had a real estate development arm of his church. Property Reserve, Inc., described even by the LDS church as "the real estate development and investment arm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

Except Jesus didn't found a church. As such, there is nothing to restore.
