Is anyone else loath to announce their retreat from the Morg? I finally gave up after five years of trying to share the "truth" with those I love.

Yeah, it will be interesting to explain how I have been shamed out of my own Church, by the Church...

Sadly, I don't discuss it at all, unless with people who knew me before I was a member and then as a member, but the occasion has rarely presented itself.

Shortly after I left, I was so excited to tell people about leaving the church. Most members I told thought I was evil and possessed by satan, and nonmembers thought I was crazy for even joining (which, actually, was true when I joined, but the judgment was overwhelming). So I just avoid the topic because new people in my life, whether mormon or not, don't need to know something so personal to me.

But it's weird and slightly tragic that a short but highly influential part of my life is something that I don't often discuss.

ETA: I find it odd that I haven't looked at RfM in a while and on the day I do, there are many posts about converts that I can respond to. The board is true.
