It was just the song author lacking a thesaurus, and having a limited number of words he could think of that rhyme with "dead."

The early Mormons used "head" in their own unique way.


A wife, especially a plural wife. called her husband her "head."

I get the feeling that "head" meant "immediate supervisor."

Also a lower priesthood holder might refer to an upper priesthood holder as his "head."

I guess God or Jesus is the ultimate "head."

If someone else knows exactly what was meant by "head" when it was used by the early Mormons, do tell.

Richard Paul Evans should write some forgettable book about this that we could buy at the check-out counter.

In a few years, we will be debating whether there was an historical Forbidden Coke Drinker, or if he was a composite character invented after the fact.
