"There is a remedy, he added, for life’s most difficult and painful periods.

'There is the gospel and Jesus Christ and the Atonement,' he said. 'There is peace and safety and a future.'"

Great, now they've patented suicide prevention, just like they patented the concept of eternal families. Why can't the church just give honest advice to people struggling instead of making up different spiritual, nonsensical ways to solve problems.

Unless you happen to be gay, look at porn or are unworthy in any other way. They create the disease so they can sell their snake oil— which in turn is what is really making people sick.

“Satan, who is the father of all lies, can cause people to believe that they are worthless and have no purpose,”

And The Lord's servants can cause people to believe that they are unworthy and have no purpose in The Plan of Salvation because they are failing at it.

So true. If Satan ever needed help his demons pale in comparison to his rival's followers.

So can low Serotonin and Dopomin levels...does Satan have control over that?

I didn't watch the video....but Stan is what causes people to be suicidal? Not mental illness, PTSD, etc? So if satan causes it Jesus can heal it.

Now I do know that religion can help some and give people hope. But to say that satan is what causes someone to become suicidal.

In my case then I would say it was TSCC that made me suicidal. Yep.

Our bishop when I left supposedly cured someone with bi-polar disorder with a healing p--hood prayer. So people were saying I should have him give me a prayer too to cure me.

and to think I trusted this guy.

I sincerely doubt it. The person was probably about to go on an UP swing. I am sure whatever the guys cycle on his disorder was, he was down again in that period. So he probably looked CURED for a little bit. If the guy was on meds and stopped because of the blessing...oh my.

Let God judge, but when it comes to our precious temples, your VICTIM of suicide must wait a year for their work to be done, just like every other murderer. I don't give a rat's ass about their silly rituals, I only let my MIL pursue it because it meant a lot to her. I did not appreciate knowing those lying, nasty men were lumping my daughter in with criminals. I'd put her goodness up against theirs any day of the week.

Surprised he didn't check out himself during his car salesman years.

from wiki:

He was the top-selling salesman for his father’s Nash car dealership when he left it in the early 1950s . In 1956, Ballard took over the Ballard Motor Company from his father. ]

During the late 1950s, Ballard was recruited by the Ford Motor Company to become the first Edsel car dealer for Salt Lake City. After praying for guidance, he had the "clear impression" not to sign the franchise. He did anyway and incurred a huge loss, "without doubt the darkest period" of his business career.

I love that they reduce what is usually a sign of a sever mental illness (an actual disease) with some angry ghost that doesnt like you. yeah, thats going to really help people with actual physiological problems. No wonder suicides are so high amongst mormons.

Hear! Hear! While not all suicides are based in long standing mental illness, the best guesses are in the 90% range. My daughter had obvious mental illness from age 7. SEVEN! That's when she first began talking about suicide. Not even the age of accountability. Even at 18 when she died, she had no known sins going on of any kind. She was a budding atheist. I'm certain that sin and Satan had NOTHING to do with her death. The idea that some Jesus talk could cure her when all the drugs and therapy we could buy her did not is ridiculous and insulting.

Ballard is a real ass.

My former SP once related what Ballard had mentioned at a meeting with all SPs in our region. Ballard said that only about 10% of the people (meaning LDS faithful) were sufficiently prepared to reach the Celestial Kingdom.

Say whaaaat? Then why the f**k pay all this goddamn tithing to get into the goddamn temple to get your phony new name and learn the secret f^^king handshakes if you're just going to be in lukewarm heaven with a bunch of Jacks?

Ballard and Packer are two of the most judgmental bastards in the fake 15. They have little to no compassion because they are so wrapped up in their own goddamn self righteousness.

What I would love to hear is Ballard acknowledge the number of LDS suicides due to feelings of worthlessness because one can never achieve the perfection ideal pushed by these fake f**king phonies.

At least in my case, since I have been hospitalized twice for depression, the answer is simple. TAKE YOUR MEDS. When I take my meds I can cope, when I don't within about a week or 2 I am thinking of ways to do myself in.

It doesn't matter whether I am TBM, agnostic,or atheist, living the commandments or sinning. If I am NOT taking my meds...I become suicidal and make an attempt or start doing self harm.

Agreed ultra!! If I were to stop I too would be wanting to die and possibly do it. I have been in the psych units of Utah, what a trip. I never felt like stan was doing anything to me.

If anything I did feel like my child molesting grandfather could do stuff to me from the sky. Yeah, not satan. But maybe he is satan.

I was told many times to go to church where I had insane panic attacks. Told to be a better wife. To clean and cook and servie him Then also to pray and read the bom. HAHAHA.

Part of the reason I left the church. It was definitely a contributor to my suicidal feelings.

This makes me so angry. So many lost lives because of tscc views on mental illness and suicide.

I hear of people who are 100% fine after leaving the church and I have to admit to a bit of jealousy. My mental illness is independent of church based delusion. I'm an atheist, but my brain, without meds, is quite obsessed with suicide. The fact that drugs work so beautifully calls free-will into question, but I just try to make make each day peaceful. I am a humble happy drug taker.

Sorry, but the inability to overcome addictions that were against the word of wisdom and knowing that he would never be perfect enough for mormonism were major contributors to my father's suicide just over a year ago.

So sorry for your loss. Suffering in this life is inevitable. Church-based suffering is despicable.

Nothing has made me feel more depressed or hopeless than being a member of the Mormon church. They will remind you daily that you're a useless piece of crap unless you do exactly as they say. So, many try to do just that, only to find it makes matters worse. People are still wondering why so many mormons are taking drugs by the handful to cope with life? They wonder why the kids are killing themselves? Yes, let Elder Ballard pray over them. That will fix it. He can drive satan off. What a load of shit.

I know a number of people with significant problems with depression. Mess and a supportive environment helps most of them live a meaningful life.

I cannot imagine that the LDS version of a meaningful life would help anyone. If I had to pay, pray and obey for the rest of my life I would be suicidal too!
