I confess, I only had one year of two without a beaten bishop.

I'm just curious if it was common? It isn't like I could ask TBMs even anonymously on The Internet.

Curious if this will turn out to be about statistics ...or just plain old fashioned sticks.

I had a stake president who was shaken, not stirred, but that's as close as I can get here...

Was he shaken more than a few times?

I was a branch president for a while on my mission and no one tried to beat me. Was I doing it wrong?

I wanted badly to beat *off* on my mission, but didn't...
And the branch president wasn't involved.

I would sneak outside and get my priesthood outside. I also spied one companion get up out of bed completely naked and rush to the bathroom. I don't remember him going to bed naked.

So, I have to admit to a well beaten Branch Prez/Bishop, although it was not often. Just well done.

Getting the Branch President to submit to a lower power was endemic in my mission. Our MP at that time in the Mexican Mission had been a very successful farmer in las Colonias and he was called to be a construction manager all over Mexico. He was probably well into his 60s when they called him to be the MP. He was salt of the earth, and not at all strong on doctrine.

I think the fact that this was his last calling in the church had a lot to do with how laid back he was. We didn't have to write to him, I don't remember being interviewed by him... Except for a guy sent home for having sex (okay, for getting caught having sex), I never heard of him discipling anyone; I never even heard of an 'emergency transfer.'

I've consistently referred to him as being cognizant that we were all volunteers, paying our own way, not slaves owned by the church, to be abused and mistreated.

Anyway, Branch Presidents were regularly and routinely beaten and our countenances beamed.

It's just not the same as beating the bishop...which is, by the way, a very healthy thing.

Back in the 60s, our friend from our ward was sent home early from his mission.

He wasn't beating the Branch President; he was banging the MP's wife...

Yep! And like a sap, I admitted it to dear Pres every time it happened. It was only like 3 times, which is probably a record for me in 24 months.

Now I look back at the absurdity that as a 19-21 year old man I talked to a 58-60 year old man about that.

I've never understood how keeping your little factory running well was a problem for the priesthood.

In hindsight, I should have ignored BKP, enjoyed myself, and lied about it. Crap.

Well, I was flirting with disaster. If I had come home dishonorably I was have been homeless. I don't know if they would send a missionary home for a intractable masturbation habit?

Sad but true. I really felt empowered for the year I abstained. I thought God had helped me.

I held out for a long time, but after you beat your first bishop on your mission its just so easy to do it again and again.

It is the gateway to a future heroin addiction for sure!

My branch president was totally abused but coming back for more.
