Toward the end of the interview, I really liked John's comments on mental health and well-being and the importance of allowing people to speak about their doubts without fear of retribution. I remember being told, "you can have your doubts as long as you don't teach them to others" and the implied threat of a church council if I did.

I was very pleased that the interviewer brought up the mormon doctrine of "eternal families" and to hear Dehlin actually repudiate it in a very sensible way.

Many people (mormon, ex-mormon and non-mormon) unthinkingly take the mormon eternal family/celestial marriage doctrine as something "nice", and "pro-family". If you actually take the time to think critically about it and deconstruct it, it's quite unhealthy, coercive, and destructive to families.

Gold star from me to the interviewer and Dehlin for teasing that issue out and giving it some exposure in this interview.
