After reading much of the evidence or lack thereof; I don't think this guy did anything I wouldn't do in similar circumstances.

Now that I am way out of my dating years, one thing I remember so well, was so inherent in me.... Yes I want to sleep with this woman, she looks great. To make the atmosphere more congenial & warm, I would invite them to my house with well stocked up wine cellar, Tequila, Whiskey, beer, cognac etc.

One element was so starkly present on all encounters that women who liked me on first sight stuck around, if not she found a very good excuse to part herself or I initiated a slow rift because I was not sexually interested in her.

The alcohol was never a tool to sedate women, it was just to lighten and warm the atmosphere.

Yes, there's always a chance that a dark personality like Cosby's might lurk in Shermer also.
Nevertheless we have to weigh the evidence.
