Religious intolerance needs legislative assistance? There are probably other states (in the South) where the legislatures would be proud to help preserve religious intolerance. Utah legislators are probably proud to contribute.

If I didn't know better I would almost be suspicious that this was all coordinated in advance. I've never seen lawmakers act that fast. But of course these are predominantly Mormon lawmakers who are bound to uphold and make the laws of the church, I mean, land---so of course they had their bigoted bills at the ready.
Just a coincidence though, I'm sure, and not a concerted effort.
It's just bizarre that they want to connect the two issues. Non-discrimination towards gay people and some sort of protection of religious beliefs. Why not religious beliefs coupled with a bill about alcohol, education, or something else?
They're just so freaked out about gay rights (and losing the marriage battle) that they need to pair the issue with some religious beliefs protection. It's just bizarre.
