I am a 20-something college student, I have no real money, although I think I live somewhat of a comfortable life. As time goes by, the more I read, the more things I experience, I get angrier about the inequality and social injustice in the world. Even in the city that I live in.
I don't have much money to donate, so is there any other way I can make a difference and help people? Or should I just accept the world the way it is?

Volunteer your time for a local project.

Old hippies like me used the phrase "Think global; act local". Find a homeless shelter, a food bank, an art project that helps children at a disadvantaged school, local Boys and Girls Club, Pride group or any of the dozens of volunteer opportunities that are probably available in your own community.

You might check to see what Humanist organizations are active in your area, especially since your interests are inequality and social injustice.

Start by making a big difference in ONE other person's life.

Remember the old cliche: "A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step."

I've recently ran across James Altucher, I especially like his 'how to become an idea machine'. He teaches that ideas are today's currency. Anyway, I highly recommend James. There are youtube vids and he's written some books

Help someone less fortunate than yourself. Do something that positively impacts the lives of persons with developmental disabilities (PDD). Their care is ALWAYS underfunded so anything you can contribute (serving on an agency board, volunteer for a casino or bingo fundraiser, etc.) is great and nobody is more appreciative than that group of people and those that love and care for them. It's been a large part of my life for my pdd daughter for 39+ years.

Cliche but ... BE the change you want to see in the world.

Don't be part of the problem, and then you'll be being part of the solution.

Teach through your own example. It's hard to actually change other people.

If you do not have money, do you have time to donate? There are plenty of places that fight social injustice that could use your help.

Do you vote? Using the ballot box to elect those that will try to address the social injustices.

Do you talk to others about the social injustices? Making others aware helps.

Most important, do not act in a way that promotes, condones, or creates social injustice.

Help out at a local Habitat for Humanity store.

Read with kids at a grade school, or tutor kids.

Set up recycle bins for cans/bottles for any cause, including the Humane Society.

Toys for Tots, Sub for Santa.

Clothing or coat drives for domestic violence homes.

Some businesses will allow a car wash for fund raisers.

Meals on Wheels...

Does the peace corps still exist?

Donate some time to Boys and Girls Club or big brothers

I think the best way to make an effectual and lasting difference is to direct your career toward finding remedies for the social injustices that you find. Helping people work their way out of difficult life circumstances has greatest life changing effect.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day;teach a man how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

You might read up on several sites re: lightworkers. Even if you believe it is all quacky, they have great ideas on how to help and heal. Peace.
