When ANY organization tells you "you have our permission to think freely," that organization is mad with power. FALSE power.

How can they be free to think and remain Mormons?

Answer: They'll either be excommunicated for voicing dissent, or will leave on their own - because they'll be shunned for being authentic.

The Mormon church will cease to exist once knowledge replaces ignorance.

So all they're doing now by encouraging free thinking, is to stop the exodus aka the brain drain; aka as the bloodletting of the most intelligent and articulate of the bunch leaving the fold.

Lip service is all it is; they're not being honest at all. Because without all the phony belief system, and false history the church will crumble.

As a TBM you have been told that the Proclamation of the Family is inspired. As a TBM you may have that Proclamation in a picture frame. You have heard talks on the PoF at General Conference. It has been talked about in Priesthood classes. You read and have been taught that "Marriage is between a man and a woman." Some even say it is a revelation.

So now as a TBM you are told you can support gay marriage.

Talk about crazy making.

What the Church needs to say is the Proclamation of the Family is now null and void. Then the LDS Church will be in step with saying TBM can support gay marriage.

By doing anything other than an off-hand statement to friends, he would probably be punished. I assume he got ex'ed.
