Would Cult HQ make him adopt a middle (or first if he's one of those second name is my first name folks) initial so he'd fit in?? Just bored and wondering.

Ron Burr

It would be cool if they follow the government system.

When someone has no middle initial you have to enter "NMI"

Deep thoughts.

I'm guessing they would make him adopt the middle initial "H" after their claimed leader, even Jesus H. Christ himself.

Reminds me of an old mormon farmer I knew as a lad named R B Jones.

To make sure the Department of Motor Vehichles knew it was his real name he filled out the form with: R (only) B (only) Jones.

His license soon arrived bearing the name of Ronly Bonly Jones.

On another note, my Mom must have had apostolic aspirations for me by naming me Kay Reginald Shumway.

My first name is a single consonant as well as being genderly non-specific.

The universal middle initial is F, according to the pattern established by Joseph F. Smith.

I believe there was a Japanese GA (Seventy?) not too many years ago who had no middle initial. I bet there was some discomfort about that among the Sanctified Brethren and their minions. Unwritten rules and all that.

I don't have a middle name so a lot of official documents (especially military) have NMI or NMN where the middle initial or name would be. Years later I still see things with my middle initial as N.

Oh my gosh, me too. Even at my current job, they gave me an ID tag with N as my middle initial (I don't have one).

I think if you're a GA you can choose to have N as your first initial or middle initial. I think N. Dumb Ass sounds much better than Dumb N. Ass.

If you think about it, the only reason they use their middle initial is because of nepotism.

Look at the Utah religious music industry. everyone seems to have to have that middle name "kapp." There was Ardeth Kapp, Janis "Kapp" perry. Steven "Kapp" perry with soft sunday sounds, My old music teacher was a Kapp as well. Nepotism runs strong in Utah!

Anyone who uses a middle initial (or even worse a full middle name) when stating their name are pretentious. I use my middle initial when signing my name but just because I am not the only Ron Burr in Alberta.

My super nerdy super TBM uncles on my dads side always use their middle initials, and they actually send letter typed on a typewriter sometimes.

The last one I got was a letter requesting money for genealogical research. Signed Roger P. ________.

Totally nerdy TBM

Someone posted on this board a while back that in Germany people usually don't use middle names. Something about Uchtdorf and his middle initial being to un-german. So I guess yes, if they don't have a middle name one is made up. LOL

Also in countries like Latin America and Spain people use two last names and women will always keep their own last name as part of the last names. I guess the second is dropped if you become a GA. And if you are a woman, your middle name is dropped and your own last name is use as he initial. This was the case of this lady who was a counselor in the Gral RS Presidency. She was from El Salvador and her middle initial was of her "maiden" name. I cannot remember her name but this will bother me now.

My dear Dad's middle name was Heber. He detested it and never used it.

I know someone who is TBM and I've noticed that he has altered FB where his name now includes his middle initial.

Can I surmise that he is either bucking for a big job in ChurchCo, or that his higher ups have told him to start with the middle initial thing because they think he's promotable???

Enquiring minds....
