I may have cushings diseease. Getting tested now. Scared but excited because if i do haveit it will explain so much hell. I look and feel so ugly, so there is hope i will regain some of that as well as my health.

anyway, it is rare, and I need to find doc/surgeon (if I have a tumor) in the utah area that specializes. I do have most symptoms and the tell-tale ones that are specific to it.

If anyone knows of anyone or has expereicne i would love to hear it. I knowt hat I may have to sign up for a different insurance plan in open enrollement if i have togo to another sstate.

I am not young so the sooner the beetter, but i want to get it handled right. Even if I don't have cushings I have some endocrine disease that has wreaked havoc on my bbody. I don't look like myself at all. No guy would even look twice. I know I look ugly.

Oh, to make it on topic, the stupid womens conference, yeah, sister Esplin. It makes me sick because NO ONE WOMAN talks like that in real life.

Ugh. Without criticizing any lifestyle, the women are urged to support marriage before man and woman (quote from the news I am watching now). I forgot it was conferencce. Sorry, barf.

TIA for any help on this!! I have known for years something was wrong and it wasn't just fibromyalgia and all the other individual issues. I think I will cry if it's so.

I am very lucky that my pcp was willing to research and order the proper tests which I start this week. She is a woman and a PA. Interesting how women listen to women so much more than a male doctor would. They just look at you like you are crazy. I am , but still.....Thanks!!

I'm prejudiced as I went to med school there, but the U of u med center may be the best place to start if you're staying in Utah.

If you have the luxury of traveling, I'd go to the Mayo Clinic if I could if I were in a similar situation, but we can't all just pack up and trek across several states whenever we choose.

I think the U of U med center is a good place to start too. They do make every attempt to stay current on everything since they are a teaching and research hospital. Good luck and keep us informed.

I was just recently reading about that. Something about studies and vitamin therapy. I think the study mentioned deficiencies in B12, D, C and MG. Anyway, I hope you find the best of what you're looking for.

Someone who doesn't deal primarily with diabetes, but also pituitary and other hormonal imbalances.

Start with your internist or family doctor and ask for a referral. You might have to do your own research and find someone like that by going on line and checking all of the endocrinologists in your area. When you have a likely list, take it to your general doctor and say you need a referral to one of these specialists.

It can be very difficult to get anyone to take these problems seriously. That's because they're used to passing off symptoms as being caused by stress, aging, imagination or other common problems.

I have the opposite of cushings. When I was in the hospital having my pituitary tumor removed, my roommate was a cushing patient.

It took me YEARS to find a doctor who was knowledgeable and helpful and my roommate had the same problem.

Be proactive. The internet will help you. Once you have a proper diagnosis and a supportive doctor you'll be well on the way to better health and peace of mind.

I want to wish you all the best. These kinds of problems are tricky but you have plenty of time because their progress is very slow and your body can amazingly deal with changes over time. I don't know what is causing your trouble, but if it's what you suspect, there is help and support out there for you.

if you are making too much cortisone. My hospital roommate and I did need surgery. That doesn't mean you necessarily would need the same. I think some patients take a drug to suppress this tendency. You would need blood tests and a proper diagnosis to determine what's causing the problem. It could be caused at a pituitary, adrenal or other source. I'm not a doctor so take that into account. I'm just a patient talking from limited experience but trying to help if I can.
