I think I know the reason...

...for why there seems to be so many in a foul mood, at least for those of us in the good ol' US of A.

Tax season.

Yeah, I had to pay a goodly lump sum. I'm on the payment plan, too.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly complaining (just a tiny bit, though). It's just that the season may be the reason.

*shrugs*

I do taxes. So I am usually the bearer of bad news, but really in my eyes you're one of the smart ones.

See I look funny at those couples that come in and are so HAPPY, HAPPY, JOYFUL when they're getting a big return, year after year, after year... I explain to them. They need to change their withholdings because they could get more money by investing or saving that money than using the IRS as a Christmas fund account. They just don't get it.

It's always best to get a small return, or better to have to have to pay a "little" bit than to have the using the IRS as a banking service.

Yep

The changes between last year's refund situation and this year's payment situation made it impossible to make any kind of guess, so this year we pay big.

We'll be better prepared for next season.
