What role did the masonic death oaths have on the witnesses to the golden plates? Is that what kept them fall calling bullsh!t? Or where they loyal to the story so that they could get some extra wives one day?

I don't believe Joseph Smith had become a Mason himself at that early stage. My recollection is that he became a Mason only a few months before the church temple rites were "revealed" to him. But I'm sure others will have more details on this.

I think it was pride and self-interest that kept them quiet, or at least some of them. Although they no longer believed, they didn't want to admit how badly they'd been duped.

William Law, who was also duped, waited more than 40 years before he discussed the details in an interview. He was that embarrassed.
