Couldn't think of a good title, but maybe you know what I mean. Mormons love obscurity and obfuscation. The church wants their financial activity to be secret and want no public records, which they can do in the US. When we need examples of their financial activity, we have to turn to the UK or Canada to get an idea of what they do and how they do it.
I wonder if this principle applies to the nagging question of the failing church: The failing LDS church is a common thread theme here on RfM, with people wondering out loud what it will look like when they begin to go under in earnest. Will Europe help us do that? Will Europeans help us gauge how failure is handled or what it looks like?
Over the last few years, the church has only shut down or consolidated stakes and missions. Beyond baptizing undocumented African aliens, they have little to no actual success. Important families are quitting the church, two new temples notwithstanding. Is European failure already upon them?
