Leaving the mormon church

I was baptized when I was 8 years old because I was taught in church that it's something your supposed to do when you turn 8. I feel like I was brainwashed into joining the church. I have been inactive since I was 16 and am completely against their belief system. I am wanting to officially resign and am wondering if anyone else has been through this process?

Do it, you won't regret it. Walk away on your own terms, and be free.

FYI - there are consequences depending on your situation. Nothing that is worth it is without cost.
