Mary Ann, played by Dawn Wells, had a very interesting father, Joe Wells. From the mid-50s Joe Wells was the principal owners of the Thunderbird Hotel, until 1964, when it was sold. The Nevada state gaming commission spent years trying to prove that he was fronting for the mafia, but eventually the Nevada Supreme Court said they couldn't prove their case.

Anyone who ever met Mr. Wells would have agreed with the gaming commission. As a showroom busboy off and on from '61 to '64, I'd see him there in the coffee shop, at "his" table, holding court. He looked like a gangster. I never did see Dawn Wells; Gilligan's Island had just started it's TV run when the hotel was sold, so we all knew about her.

According to The Internet, she's 76 years old and living in Idaho. There was no mention of a husband, so....
