The recent thread on Napoleon Dynamite made me remember this. After making Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, Jared Hess made a movie called Gentlemen Broncos. It wasn't nearly as successful as his first two movies, but it had a scene that stood out to me, and made me wonder if he was thinking about the Book of Mormon when he wrote it.
The movie is about young sci fi fans and wanna be authors who go to a writers camp. The camp is taught by a famous sci fi author who gives them tips. In this one scene he teaches them how to come up with names for characters and how to make those names better.

You could almost picture Joseph Smith like this author putting on several endings to different names, in order to get even more names and make them sound cooler.
Amaleki-Amalickiah
Ammon-Ammoron
Corianton-Coriantor-Coriantum-Coriantumr
Helam-Helaman
Kish-Kishkumen-Kumen
Laman-Lamoni
Mormon-Moron-Moroni-Moronihah
Nephi-Nephihah
Zerahemla-Zerahemnah
And many other names of people and places in the book.
