I called my parents today and was surprised to hear that they had a letter from church headquarters for me. I'm not sure why it was mailed to their address. Their's was the address they had on record for me, but I included my current address in my resignation letter. I guess they missed it?

I told my parents a few weeks ago about my plans, so fortunately, the letter wasn't a surprise to them. My mom opened and read it to me after I told her she could. Yippee! It's nice to know that it's really done! Time to start living!

May we assume your parents approve of this? That makes it a lot more pleasant for everyone.

It's probably no mistake that this was sent to your parents. It's likely an attempt to cause a rift, to drive a wedge.
