Joseph and the Second Coming

Does anyone have any links to information on the general topic of how often Smith would invoke the second coming on his people as a sort of stick, or as a reason for doing the lame things he did?

Just scanning this article, I learned that one of the signs is that "the Dead Sea shall be healed..." Interesting, no?

Also, rainbows will no longer appear! Which makes sense during a drought.
