Could it be that Thomas S. Monson is the actual inspiration for the term Ponderize?

Perhaps everyone has been a little too harsh on Devin Durrant, after all, he was probably the only one in the church actually listening closely to all of Monson's speeches. Having done a quick review of Monson's General Conference speeches, I have made an interesting discovery.

Monson has used the words PONDER or PONDERED 18 times in 17 speeches from 2008 through 2014.

So, it appears that Durrant has simply taken the prophet's advice to do what he says and asked others to do the same. He coined the catchy term "Ponderize" to spread the concept and decided to introduce it world-wide in conference. It was a somewhat juvenile idea, but he is second counselor in the Sunday School presidency - why would it not be a good idea in that context? Kids would love it.

Of course it was tacky and slimy to make money off of the idea, but that action is not without precedence in the church. See, it all depends on who you are whether or not it is acceptable.

Does everyone remember the "Testimony Glove"?
Someone is making a few bucks off of that silly idea. Let's see, who might have created that - I wonder?

Oh, yes - it was . . . . oh no!! Say it isn't so!!!!

"'When we were teaching a mission presidents seminar, we decided to use those five points just using pictures,' said Sister Oaks, who at the time was serving in the Philippines with her husband, Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve.

Then the idea of using a glove with a picture on each finger for each point was developed, and soon Sister Oaks was taking gloves with her as she and Elder Oaks traveled around the world.

'It took on a life of its own,' Sister Oaks said of how thousands, if not tens of thousands, of the gloves have been made, distributed and used since 2003.

The glove represent(s) the Holy Ghost.

'They are so clear and so simple, and you always have your hand,' Sister Oaks said.

The book 'The Testimony Glove,' which tells the story of a little girl and her testimony, was published recently by Deseret Book."

Nice try Devin. Perhaps your career will come to a screeching halt, but on the other hand, perhaps the upper level will see you as one of the good ole boys who who know how to make a buck. After all, they promote those who are just the same as themselves. We'll see.

Just a thought Devin. If the concept was successful, it might be a disaster as well. Sunday School would have been the only area in the church where pondering (or THINKING) was encouraged as opposed to FEELING. If kids were trained to think about those verses in the Book of Mormon, they might eventually realize that the book does not actually contain the current Mormon doctrines taught in the church today. It's best not to teach critical thinking - it's not a faith promoting endeavor.

Was THAT the reason that American Apparel founder/CEO wore only ONE sock (not on his foot) and NOTHING else to business meetings?

A book was published and offered back in Jan of 2014.

So another Mormon is trying to capitalize on someone else's thoughts and ideas; who would of thought.

There are plenty of Mormon trinkets available on Amazon. I wrote a joke review on a Moroni tie pin. The Ponderize shirt was dropped out of public embarrassment, which is the same reason that some doctrine is discontinued. Bad market timing, perhaps.
