I'm not aware of many mainline religions that are "under siege." Some may get criticisms, or be losing members, but that hardly qualifies as under siege. "Under siege" connotes a concerted effort to overwhelm or destroy the religion. I don't see it happening.
Even the Mormon church is not really under siege. It should be, but it isn't.
Under siege being "surrounded, and/or blockaded and the target of a prolonged attack?" Not applicable.
Muslims I would say do not always get a fair shake. All the Christian religions though, are giving much more than they get.
The Mormons, the religious right and all the other Christian zealots are continually attempting to surround, block, and rid themselves of women's rights, Planned parenthood, and the gays, among other groups. Those are they that are truly under siege.
The religions claiming to be under siege is just them playing the old "blame the victim" game and claiming persecution where there is none. It doesn't seem to be working quite as well as it used to I hope.
In some parts of the world, Muslims get more than a "fair shake" -- they run everything about everyone's lives. In other parts, they're unpopular, feared, criticized.

So you advocate hated and intolerance of people based upon their religious affiliation. Lovely.

Never said anything about "hatred and intolerance." Pretending I said something I didn't isn't very honest.
The word "siege" was defined above my post: "surrounded, and/or blockaded and the target of a prolonged attack"
I'm all for surrounding religion with education. I'm all for blockading religions from putting their beliefs into law. I'm all for attacking religion with reason, intelligence, facts, and evidence.
See? No "hatred and intolerance." Just facts, reason, and evidence.
Next time, don't make stuff up and pretend I said it.
Christians are being slaughtered for being Christians, in parts of the world.
Mormons would be too, if they're in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Muslims are under attack by non-Muslims, for just being Muslims.
How many people equate Muslimhood with the terrorists? Too many.
And the Jews? We've been under attack for as long as we've been around.
Honestly can't think of a single religion that is *not* under attack. They all are.
Just because it's *safer* to be a religious observer in America, that does not hold true for the rest of the world. It still isn't safe to be a Jew here, or a Muslim IMO.
May be safer to be a Christian in America, but that depends on perspective.
The Nazi hater who tried murdering Jews for sport at a Jewish community center in Kansas last year only thought he was murdering Jews. He killed Christians by mistaking their identity for Jewish people.
There really isn't anywhere I consider it safe to be a practicing believer in any religion. Unless one lives in a bubble, or under a rock.

The Mormons are under siege! "The gays" are trying to strip them of their right to marry!!!! Don't they know that "the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets"?!?!?! I've gotta get back to work on my bunker now. Goodbye.
Christians have been saying they're "under siege" forever. It's part of their story line. The only places this is real is in areas where they are a minority and being oppressed by other religions. What they mean by oppression in free countries: "People are criticizing our beliefs! They aren't allowed to do that! We get to run things, and our opinions must be accepted! We are right by default!"
If by under siege, we mean that we are not OK with religious folk dictating our morals, rights or behavior, then yes, they are under siege. Get over it, religious people. You've shoved your hatred masked as righteousness for too long. Leave us in peace and we'll do the same.
