A lot of bad things have happened to TSCC in 2015, resulting in a tsunami of negative publicity. To wit,

-- John Dehlin's excommunication circus

-- SSM ruled legal by the Supreme Court

-- Boise Rescue

-- Julie Rowe and prepper movement

-- SLC law firm actively advertising for missionaries with health issues to sue TSCC

-- New policy on gays unexpectedly leaked to social media

-- Mass resignation in SLC draws significant crowd, media attention


I am sure I have missed some items but 2015 has not been kind to the Morg.

Every time I think it couldn't get worse for TSCC they seem to find a way to keep the bad mojo going.

Mmmmmm, no. There's a long way to go before it's the worst year ever for the church.

The leaders don't have warrants out for their arrests, they haven't fled the country to avoid prison, and none of them have been jailed as was the case during the early years in Utah.

Yeah, at least Monson's not in Canada hiding from the law. No one has tried to tar and feather him and cut off his nuts.

And then there was when the majority of the saints refused to accept BY as the next head of the church and refused to follow him west. Too bad my ancestors couldn't have been among those who said, "Hell no, we won't go!"

Additionally, last year LDS Inc lost some legendary executive management talent.

Though entertaining to the point of nearly feeling like redemption, the loss of Boydy Packer was a significant event.

Even though he was reduced to a mumbling, drooling, wheelchair bound shadow of his former self (both Orwellian and inspiring thoughts of various Stanley Kubrick characters)- the presence of him on the leadership stand carried the optics of the hardcore, hate filled, bigoted true order of mormonism.

October 2015 General Conference would have said something positive about the missionary surge or the new missionary program launched June 23, 2013, "Hastening the Work of Salvation" if things were just peachy.

Instead there was nothing said. Many, including me, reported that it was the most boring of GC's in memory. The only noteworthy event was putting in 3 more suits into the Q12.

The SURGE: failure
The HASTENING: total failure

Now if only Steve Young would come out against the new SSM/anti-child policy, do a lengthy MormonStories podcast with John Dehlin and then resign on camera with Dehlin by pushing the send email button on his laptop. That would be a PR nightmare for LDS Inc.

Well as bad as this year has been, 1844 and 1857 were far worse.

Boy Scouts is another one for this year.

I think the "Three More White Guys" meme did more damage than the Boise Rescue, for example. It was a huge disappointment for many members at a time of increasing tension within the church.
