No, I don't think so. I think conservative Christians will use this against the church too, saying Mormons aren't following Christ. Because most of the anti-gay marriage Christians would probably feel they had "rescued" the child of gay parents and saved them for Jesus. I don't think this is the ideal mindset either, obviously, but most Christians wouldn't throw out a kid but rather see rescuing a kid from the so-called gay lifestyle, as a victory. Which is wrong in it's own way, but not the same stunt the Mormons are pulling.
Mormons have declared open warfare on gays just as most Americans support gay marriage. SLC has a gay Mayor, but in Temple Square she is an abomination.
It will be fun to see how quickly the church craters from the internal and external pressure. They were in trouble before this antigay policy; now they will be hemorrhaging members and public sympathy.

Yeah, and their public imagine is always so important to them. They always seem to think that people look at them and see the "Light of Christ shining from their countenances." LOL
This isn't going to help the morg missionaries find any new suckers to join. More likely more slammed doors in their faces. Watch as missionary work comes to a grinding halt!

Im personally glad the church declared this. As a divorced woman, my ex resents that our adult children are not LDS.
If I were in a predicament where my minor children were being pressured by another parent to become members...I would immediately enter INTO a legal same sex marriage to prevent it from happening! I am totally hetero but live in a state where such is legal.

Science suggests that human sexual identity is sometimes confused during gestation. In other words, being gay is not a "choice." Rather, it is a fact of biology.
If that is so, then loving relationships among same-sex humans should be celebrated; just as loving relationships among different-sex humans should be celebrated.
Mormon policy to shun loving human beings and their children should be met by all of modern society using the "Golden Rule." That is to say, modern society should shun Mormons.
