Anybody seen this...? John Dehlin posted this on facebook.....

"I just found out that Dale Larsen and his wife Un Hui Larsen have been called as a couple by the LDS North Ogden Coldwater stake as 'Same Sex Attraction Specialists."

I watched the condensed version. What strikes me about this is that the man in this video still presents an 'either/or' scenario - as in, either he could have a 'family', or he could follow his authentic self and live as a gay man. I think this is a stereotype the church promotes. He also seems to imply through his own story, that if one 'follows the Spirit', they can find that one person they should marry, even if it is the exact opposite of what they are actually attracted to.

First, if he would've just followed his heart and lived authentically in the first place, he never would have been confronted with his 'same gender attraction' 'flaring up' several years into the marriage - he'd just be with who he really wanted to be with. And, being with another man, he STILL could've had a family.

It's so typical that this is who the church would call into such a position like this. It's typical that they want to promote a couple like this as the 'ideal' when confronted with the 'struggle' of 'same gender attraction'. They continue to present and promote the idea that it is something to be overcome and that if you want to have a 'family', it has to be man/woman. That's proven not to be true in this day and age. You can be in a homosexual relationship AND have it all! You can be yourself. You can be happy. You can have a family - or not.
