Coming home early back then (circa 1970's) was akin to "ecclesiastical suicide" as well as becoming a pariah to all of the lovely Mormon Hand-Maidens waiting back home to pluck their chosen RM out of the line-up.
Far as I can remember, you're the first missionary who went exmo whom I've seen write that he extended. There are ever so many who have written about NOT extending.

Actually i was initially sentenced to 24-months of trying to hawk Joseph's Myth to good and decent people.
In case of any confusion i was responding to Elder Holland's remarks in his "Face to Face" questions/answers elsewhere on the RFM board to a missionary who came home early at 4-months and Elder Holland told him that he should consider that he served a "full-time" mission!
