Apologists constantly beat the drum that Joseph Smith's "marriages" did not necessarily involve sex. They emphasize this specially with the polyandrous "marriages" and with Helen Mar Kimball, the 14-year-old.
Just because someone is "married" doesn't mean it involves sex, right? That would be an UNFOUNDED ASSUMPTION, we are told
But, if a same-sex couple is legally married there is the blanket* ASSUMPTION that they are engaging in sex, and they are summarily excommunicated and any children living with them are barred from membership.
Two things I like about the Church . . . its face.
* Maybe I should say "under-the-blanket assumption."
