and keep BICs coming?

Aspie's story about Dad cheating is a possible example of what happens when people 'Don't live the gospel' (even tho LDS).

Remember, when SWK wrote the MoF, news about STDs was breaking (but AIDS not yet, as I remember)

also, the WoW/ tobacco thing attracts ppl partly because the links between tobacco & cancer (health in general) weren't established yet...

also, 'emphasis on family' (a False claim!)

does this ring true at all?

Mormonism is where scatology meets eschatology.

Their godly pleasures produce methane and shit which will burn when they rejoice over the destruction of the planet as their perfected digestive tracts live forever.

I'm sure it appeals to many, many people. Their biggest problems are boredom and lack of wisdom.

The best they can do is setup lame activities for boredom (and a ready made social network) and talks about half-blind obedience as wisdom.

Maybe one of the draws is the overall promise of lds members rising above humanity's normal plights and patterns. But then as you experience more in life you realize the members of lds haven't really risen above it and experience the same shit as everybody else - and have to deal with it just the same anyways - such as people cheating on spouses. I think it's worse when members act human because they have IMPLIED through their beliefs and damnations of others that they are not susceptible to naughty behaviour too ("we are better than that and you sinners") - making them hypocrites and probably more likely to engage in worse behaviour to cover up the mistakes they feel they should never had made.

Roundabout way of saying if they are still promising a product that will help humanity rise above itself then yes they will keep drawing people in. Who wouldn't want that? The problems come when they can't deliver said product and people catch on.
