Hoooray for you, Gatorman!!!! As a fellow ex-mo in health care, CONGRATULATIONS on making it through!!!!!! No doubt there may be withdrawals from time to time, but, whoooeeee now you can live life!

I always liked preemies. They keep their appointments, don't argue and have no self inflicted diseases. Take medicine when told and don't use a bed pan. Diets are banked breast milk, premature formulas or artificial nutrition. Have no religious preferences, enjoy being rocked by anybody and by 36 weeks corrected age smile a lot. Only problem is they grow into adults.

Those poor little babies. They've had a rough start. Statistically, how many of the eight are likely to make it?

The large cerebellar hemorrhage has already died. The EColi meningitis will never function normally. Have urged parents to end life support but mother 14 and is an emancipated adult so has to make the decision.

Intestinal perfs are okay- we put penrose drains in and hope the bowel heals without a stricture. The rest of the group should do well if they can avoid a disease called NEC

As the mother of a baby in the hospital from day 1, with many complications over the years, I thank you, for your tenacity and courage and your devotion and intelligence. My baby survived and years down the road, thrived. She now works in the medical field herself, passing on the gift she received from those like you, who saved her life and gave her a fighting chance.

Enjoy your retirement with the knowledge that you have changed lives in ways that you may never know.
