Turkey strikes me as one of those countries where promoting Mormonism is like knocking your head against a wall. It just isn't a good fit for the culture. I doubt that Mormonism will ever be anything more than a fringe religion there.

Especially a country where they created a new government that was specifically democratic & secular. (Not to be political, but I hope the coup rebellion from the military dies down soon.)

Mormonism is a fringe religion everywhere except in the Morridor.

An average of 36 members per congregation... So assuming the normal rate of inactivity, it's whomever showed up of the branch presidency, their wives and kids and the missionaries.

Here is the only mishie blog for the Central Eurasian mission.

It was an interesting read. I'll be checking back to see how he survived the coup attempt.

Apparently (purely a guess) there is no good Turkish word for Elder, and the word they use translates to Volunteer.

And investigators are friends. He had some friends on track to "get in the tub, but wouldn't you know it, they lost interest...

One might also assume that some of that claimed membership are American military personnel at the 2 US bases in Turkey.

Probably most, if not all, are from those two bases. I have a tough time seeing Turkish people being anything other than than Muslim.
