Yep, they came to little utah, Alberta a few years back.... Well actually just John came. They're both lds. Seem like decent people, and they are truly talented.
Yes, they are LDS. Some TBM pops up on PianoWorld.com periodically to rave about them, how they inspire her to want to learn to play (although apparently she doesn't bother to follow through). Her amateur PR attempts on their behalf are obvious attempts to promote the faith, with the usual schlock: so positive, always smiling, yada yada yada. The mods usually clear her posts off pretty quickly.
My take on them: they have some talent, but their schtick gets old really fast. There are only so many gimmicky ways for a group of guys to bang on a piano, and there are only so many ironic places to play one.
I'm still hoping they'll do a video set on the moon, dressed as Quakers! ;) or perhaps they can do one in the celestial room of some temple, dressed in temple garb!
That's kind of what was wondering - how can they do so many concerts of 'just' piano playing. I mean, I know it takes talent, and can be beautiful, but....

Hey, I just noticed this (somebody topped the thread)!
It takes a lot to piss me off. The lady who turns up at PianoWorld to "promote" them does get under my skin though, because I'm sorta hyper-sensitive to the TBM tactics... ;) And I hate to see them pop up there.
I do think they have a little talent, but it's just been stretched too far with a lot of sameness, IMO. And of course it's "success" that stooges within TSCC try to leverage.

They certainly are. They did a live open question thingy for the youth a few months back. They really are talented. It is just sad that their minds are not their own.
Just watched one of their videos, "Jungle Book," Mayan-themed. Music was pretty good.
I was a bit put-off by the lousy insertion of a CG black leopard into one scene, and the obvious CG of them supposedly playing at Chithen-Itza (hint: no, they didn't get permission to take over the whole area, park their pianos and string instruments on top of fragile ancient buildings, and film the whole thing with drones...it's CG).
What ever happened to that LDS family from a few years ago with a load of musically talented kids the parents were promoting/pressuring/managing/leeching off of?
I had never heard of them until last week. I turned on PBS and they were doing a concert at Red Rocks amphitheater in Denver. I started thinking they might be mormon and then they brought out that mormon Token Black guy who is a singer--Alex Somebody, so I was sure. I have to admit I really enjoyed it and am now more interested in checking out some of their stuff.
