There's a thing going around on facebook res the Cherokee being of Semitic desent. The above is a critical rebuttal. Anyone else hearing about how "we finally have proof" and "Joseph always said they were in the Great Lakes region"?

Any succinct rebuttals for my TBM in laws and brother are most appreciated. (Ie, what to you say?)

Hebrews had hair on their heads and on their balls. I know that Cherokees had/have hair on their heads, but I can't speak to the other issue. You should encourage your TBM relatives to follow up this line of inquiry/proof.

I had a Cherokee roommate in college.

Similar to a lot of Asians, he had a smooth body, sparse beard, but very thick pubic and armpit hair.

Cherokees have "always" (to my knowledge) been an amazingly inclusive tribe...and most particularly so after the removal (forced migration) from [basically] what became North Carolina to the Oklahoma Territory and surrounding areas.

People in colonial and later times liked the Cherokees in particular, and Cherokees liked those people in return. Males were attracted to females, marriages (formal or informal) happened, babies were born...and those babies had babies...

I am one of the probably millions of Americans who have part-Cherokee ancestry. (My maternal grandfather's mother was full-blood Cherokee.)

Those non-Cherokees who had babies by Cherokees were often either Jews (Jewish traders, as in much of world history, played a major part here), or were of partial Jewish ancestry.

It is no surprise that Cherokees now may have Semitic features, or Jewish DNA markers...had people in colonial and later times known that DNA would eventually be discovered a couple of centuries in the future, this would have been totally predictable back then.

Of course, Jesus and/or Satan changed Native American DNA for holy and/or sinister reasons, so the DNA argument fails.
