"We all face situations that look like they’ll never work out. But just because you don’t see anything happening doesn’t mean God is not working. Behind the scenes, He’s arranging things in your favor, lining up the right people. If you’ll stay in faith, at the right time, it will all come together."
--Joel Osteen, Holier Than Thou.

I immediately thought about him preaching this at the train station reception platform at Auschwitz, and what a comfort it would have been.

I'm a real downer at parties...

So, lack of evidence is evidence then.
Right.

BTW, are there any "non-pukey" Joel Osteen quotes??

Yes. To a concerned valet at a swanky restaurant, "My Mercedes Benz is the red four door, with the leopard skin seats."

That's still pretty pukey.

I wonder what his attitude would be if his reported worth was

not $40 million dollars.

There, fixed it. ;)

But you know, it doesn't really come together unless there's Parmesan cheese.

No, no...true Pastafarians know it's the sauce that matters. It has to be made from costoluto Genovese tomatoes. Nothing else.
You guys and your cheese...that's just heresy!

Joel Osteen is slime. Anyone that preaches untruths to garner donations is slime.

Third world Osteen is an interesting site. Don't know if they are still active.

This is what I had going on in my mind's eye. I'm glad this site exists, though truth be told, Joel would lose no sleep over it.

As long as everyone understands that Jesus has a few favorites that are supposed to be rich and everyone else should just play along....

(sarcastic eye roll)

Why do people keep giving money to these preacher types? Sheesh.

Using religion to make money is as old as...well, religion.

One of the most interesting things about much of humanity is the apparent need to believe in a deity. The idea that there is some god out there that is personally interested in each person's life and is available to take care of our every need and concern is very powerful. The human brain has a "god part of the brain" according to a book by Mathew Alper.

Preachers like Osteen make millions of dollars off of people who are mesmerized by appealing to their need to think there is a supreme god who is caring for them in every detail of their lives.

The idea that one can pray to a deity and they can receive an answer is ancient. So Mr. Olsteen will continue to bring in millions of dollars off of people who believe every one he says as they are convinced he is a direct conduit to their deity. He's the new religious rock star. And, it will continue.

I see his quotes all over the Internet and people hang onto them like they are pieces of god himself speaking to them personally.

I used to accept what my family told me and the LDS Church about following the Bible, etc. and that "God's Word" would never fail me.
Well, now I'm not so easily convinced.
