Can somebody on this board explain him to me? Maybe somebody who knows him?

I assume what he writes is some form of comedy schtick and I get a laugh out of it, actually. But maybe it isn't comedy. Does anyone have any insight?

Like many of life's deeper mysteries, we've tried to better understand Ziller. Here is a recent community attempt:
http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1799359

I just discovered that Ziller is also a media critic. Here's his take on an Ensign article about New Zealand:

This issue of the Ensign is all about New Zealand which is pretty much like Old Zealand except Old Zealand doesn’t have any sheep, Samoans or Mormons in it. In fact, Old Zealand is inhabited by Danish who are a white and delightsome people named after the pastry of the same name and who couldn’t give a crap about Mormonism if you paid them.

in before Ziller's "in before" comment.

I am a fan of his. Sometimes his comments make no sense and sometimes I find myself laughing pretty hard.

At that first Amazon review, click on Ziller's name, and look at his others. Equally hilarious.

And even more hilarious: one particularly TBM mormon follows him around and snarks at every one of his reviews. This stuff is priceless :)

Ziller has been contributing to the board for many years and has used different literary styles. His current shtick (the 'in b 4' stuff) is based on 4chan-ish internet memes. Think of it as an art form.

Paraphrasing C. Montgomery Burns: I don't know much about art but I know what I hate. And I don't hate Ziller.

You can see a lot of earlier Ziller material by doing a board search. Click on the search link at the top of this page, enter "Ziller" in the Search Authors box, adjust the date range to "All Dates", click on the Search button and enjoy.

"His current shtick (the 'in b 4' stuff) is based on 4chan-ish internet memes."

Nothing like communicating in way a lot of people don't understand to get your point across.

I try and make sense of Ziller post's....but they hurt my brain. Which is no judgement on Ziller, just that I don't get what is being communicated, and therefore feel rather odd and left out of the conversation.

Well, you're not alone in that. I read for a living and work with language and can rarely make sense of any of Ziller's posts. I just shrug and move on, assuming I'm not part of the intended target audience and/or maybe I'm just too much of a pedantic asshole to get it. I could be okay with the poor writing style if in fact, any of it made sense. But I can't even glean from context wtf he's (he?) trying to get across. This thread doesn't really help much.

We should hire an Official Ziller-to-English Translator®.

I usually can't make much sense of it. I don't try too hard, either. Maybe he is a product of the text generation, plus a foreigner, plus likes to be cool?

Do a search on his username and look at some of his older posts. He can be perfectly intelligible when he so desires. The current Ziller style is an artistic choice.

Can't be bothered. Ziller has already made it clear that he (?) does not intend to reach everyone with his posts. I'm glad that he entertains some of you and that he entertains himself. It's all good.

Ziller could clear this up easily if (he) wanted to.

I would love to hear about Ziller and his lovely Trophy Wife (please post photos Ziller) every month. I realize his style is drive-by posting but would so like to have something I can share every month with my TBM Stake Relief Society Pres Sister and my many TBM facebook friends from high school, mission o.s.v.

For a while I thought Ziller might be an ex-mission companion who wrote weekly journal entries in the same style .. but alas we are much older and said companion's TBM trophy wife has turned him into TBM zombie ( and burned his mission journal too.)

ziller writes in modern reformed mormonanti. I don't always know where he's going, but I trust that he has a plan. And I KNOW the ziller is true!

I say these things in the name of....oh who really gives a f#%k!

Ziller, reveal thyself and let's attend a F&T meeting together.

No need to explain. He deliberately types incoherent, rambling non sentences. I guess he thinks this is some kind of exMormon 4Chan.

I can tell by context and from what I am able to discern that he is intellectually capable of typing out cogent, readable thoughts, yet he chooses not to do so. I don't understand why he has such a fan club here. I personally think it is obnoxious spam, and I wish the administration would do more to put the kibosh on it. Personally, it annoys the hell out of me.

I bring this up routinely, but this is the first time I've ever heard someone make a thread about it. I guess enough people here are used to it, or he has been around long enough, that most of the regulars here just don't seem to mind.

Ziller is a funny dude! I wasn't aware of his previous stuff, which many have referenced in this thread. His current style is a satire of the abomination that is our current mode of communicating via text. It's really funny when you take a moment to think about what he's doing. Long live Ziller!

Can't explain ziller to OP. ziller is ziller except when ziller is on the rodeo circuit or at spy camp. Then ziller is morrie.

It's been said that Ziller does not really exist; that he is but a figment of our collective imagination.

OK, I don't really know anybody has said it, but we must have all thought it. Right?

How do you catch a rainbow?

Ziller defies description IMO. He just is what he is, fabulously funny and original - but hard to pin down.

He's an enigma, wrapped in a paradox of his own conundrum.

A big man, he is. Arms like tree trunks, hands like great hams. And flaming red hair. People say they seen him hitchin' outside Vegas once, where he stopped a liquor store robbery and put a man in the hospital. Others say he once broke up a brawl in Cooterville, Texas. Ziller ain't afraid of nothin', no how. Just give him room, they say. Inside he's like, well, like a giant kitten, he is.

I know who you’re talking about now! It’s Ziller of the Hood and His Merry Band of Apostates!

He’s a highly skilled archer and swordsman, taking from the Q and giving to the masses.

Wait. Actually, I think I just described cludgie, instead. My bad. Cludgie is very like ziller, just not as erudite or very humorous. And not young, fit, and handsome like unto ziller. But otherwise, same-same, save for all the differences.

He's a very handsome man. Passionate, intense, but troubled, strange. I think he may be in love with me. Of course there's nothing abnormal about that, I have many suitors. I was engaged to Mickey Rooney! He left me at the altar.

Spot on!!!

I KNEW there was something familiar about ziller's posts, but I could never seem to remember what I was being reminded of.

It IS the living spirit of Mork...transformed into twenty-first century cyber bytes!!!
