And no, I don't think they are really atheists for several reasons. I am convinced that many if not all of them are believers on some level. It's been bred into their DNA for many generations.

I used to be sure that the 15 apostates were atheist, but then those video leaks came out and I saw some seriously deluded, scared old men. Now I think that they believe in their own special way. The insanity defense will stop any future criminal prosecutions.

If someone gave me the perks and hero worship they give GAs, I'd believe Betty White is President Obama's mother.

I don't think you can parse Mormon doctrine to come up with atheism. Not the modern Church has anything to do with Mormon doctrine. It's all real estate and damage control.

It looks like the article was posted today, but written before the case was thrown out of court.

To save Tom some time: it was a criminal prosecution, not a civil suit.

I dunno if the apassholes believe in the same God-of-the-universe that I believe in.

But I'm sure they don't RESPECT God. Those arrogant men think that they can tell God what to do.

They think that God actually NEEDS Mormons to keep records and do baptisms for the dead. They obviously can't comprehend a God who "is mindful of every sparrow that falls", and knows every hair on our head, and every thought.

This means God knows every corruption, every bad motive, every blatant lie. If the apassholes feared God, they would not lie so much.

They are atheists who worship only money and power.

No slur intended towards atheists, here. The people I love the most are atheists, and I'm moving more in that direction, too. The difference is that none of us are claiming to be prophets of God or to have "divine callings." We're not getting paid to lie.

I believe that they have moments of doubt and perhaps serious doubt. They also realize how heavily invested in the church they are in so many ways that allowing themselve to honestly question tscc's truth claims would exact too heavy a price. They would rather toe the party line and not know. Some times a lie pays greater dividends than the truth... at least for some people.

By the way Koriwhore, I doubt Tom apreciates being referred to as a British bastard. Just sayin.

I don't think the OP meant to offend by that expression and I don't think Tom will be offended. It's often by way of an endearment, strangely enough.

At least, in my experience within a British family.

Sure enough, though, literally it is considered by many to be a rough and rude insult, especially outside England, perhaps.

My English dad used it as both a cuss and a compliment (directed at different people/different times, of course). He was very talented with language that way. :)

"Glorious Bastard" (as in Inglorious Bastards, the Brad Pitt movie) is totally meant as a term of endearment. Im pretty sure Tom gets that.

That is what happened for LUCKY enough to be out of MORmONISM us. For other faithful (faithFOOL) at any cost good member MORmONS ( like my MORmON family) they thought that Hinckley was great and that MORmONISM is still well on its way to taking over the world.
