Tell them good-bye! Just walk out!

Listen to your heart!

I did. :o)

I realized that the Church had spent many years destroying my self-esteem. My heart asked, "Why are you doing that to yourself?"

I said, "You know what? I shouldn't. I should just walk away," and so I did and the moment I left, I began to heal.

I'd spent 30 years in a toxic environment and hadn't even realized it before that moment.

That's what Disney movies always say.

But do the mormons listen?

That's because Mormons are threatened with eternal consequences if they follow their heart. It takes courage and/or confidence that the Church is wrong about that, before one can find the courage to leave.

And for me it's become even easier to listen to my heart since I left.

All that noise, belching forth from all those wind-up automatons--gone!

No more insipid testimonies! No more pompous pablum from the conference pulpit! No more callow missionaries ludicrously positing the route for MY salvation!

Francis Bacon said, "Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom." Deduct Mormonism and one's precious store of silence increases five-fold.

I do like this wrt to TSCC.

However, with all due respect to Swedish Roxette: the encouragement was to check oneself carefully because saying goodbye would likely be the wrong decision.
