I got a text last night from someone in my ward asking if I would be attending the ward date night in a few weeks, I asked some people I know in the ward what that was all about and they said the bishop had come into the elders quouroum class and demanded they all begin dating more and ask the sisters in the ward on a date so thats how the date night at the ward building got created. I asked my friend if we were that hopeless and sad in our 30s now that we needed some church chaperoned dance to ask people out lol now all we need is some young couple in there early 20s to come in that night and teach us the ways to finding a mate, i better not give em the idea

Must be nice to be in a church where some guy that lives down the street and owns a small business tells you with authority directly from god when, where, who, and how to date.

Exactly. For me, the straw that broke the camel's back in getting me to resign was getting an invitation to a singles dance, and my divorce from my TBM ex wasn't even final yet. Even if it were finalized, I didn't want to have anything to do with Mormonism again, nor would I have wanted to date another Mormon.

Be sure and dance at arm's length apart. Make sure the music doesn't have any nasty lyrics, and absolutely no movements that mimic hip movements.

When I was about 25 I went to a young single adult FHE. The girls had to take of their shoes and the guys needed to each pick 2 different shoes (so each guy got 2 different gals) and talk to them for 1 hour. The guy who picked my shoe clearly was disappointed as he was interested in someone else but didn't know her shoes. The other woman he picked was engaged. He ended up disapearing in the bathroom and the other date and I talked about her upcoming wedding for an hour he never came back. It was so awkward. And I doubt that FHE activity had any marriages following :)

This is a perfect example of how the morg creates edicts instead of talking to their young people. They don't want to hear that young folks are not crazy about quick dates to get married.

My chances are better not going to singles things I've learned I am content on meeting someone at a random place I won't be sheepled along in the church to get force married.

Mormonism is deeply uncomfortable with the persistently single.

^that^ It scares the shit out of them (which scares the shit out of them) and they are so fool of it!

They don't understand life (and are DEEPLY afraid to really live) or LIVING [on your own terms or principles, vs. marrying the first jerk than comes off/ along].

Just text him back and tell him you already have plans for that night. You're not going to find anyone you want to date at an event like that.
