I didn't see a post on the closing of the Catholic Monastery by Huntsville Utah.

It seems there were six monks left. The monastery has been sold. Guess what the monks did with the profits?????

Donated it to charities. Including $400,000 to a homeless shelter.

What does the church do when it closes or sells a building?

Beats off... with the profits.

Hides it in the hills, buys pills, steals (more).

It LAUNDERS it, so it is clean, mean, gold and green.

The mormon "church" WOULDN'T THINK of (and wouldn't know how to, without any practice) doing good into others [because it doesn't believe they exist or are "worthy"].

LDSink is a TAKER, not a giver. Really

They're like a giant tick on your back like in the movie "Land of the Lost".

There was a building here in SLC that the morg closed. I believe they sold it to the county because it is now a small park.

But what did the church do with the money from the sale?

My dad used to love to drive over Monte Cristo, so we went there often and we'd stop at the monastery.

I think it is wonderful that they donated the money.

Is it closed yet? If not, I'm going to have my boyfriend take me up there this weekend.

It's open until September and the person who purchased it is allowing the monks to live there as long as they choose. It was the earnings that the monks made on their honey and other things they sold in their gift shop, the farm profits, etc., that were donated to the homeless shelter. The money from the sale of the property will be given to other monasteries, etc.

If you go, be sure to eat lunch at The Shooting Star Saloon. Utah's oldest bar. Get a cold one and a Star Burger. You'll thank me later.

I remember this place but haven't visited it since I moved away 35 years ago. They would let people who were struggling with life come and stay there for as long as they needed. They sold home baked bread, honey, butter, and a few other things. A very peaceful place to visit, I liked it.
