I know many of you are familiar with the "Today in Mormon History" on Facebook and other feeds.

I found this one particularly interesting today, from 60 years ago.

"[David O. McKay]
Brother Evans then said that he was making reservations, tourist class, for his trip to Europe to fulfill his Rotary assignment and that of the Church in Switzerland. However, I advised him to go first class--that it would be better for the Church and for the Rotary Club for him to travel in safety and comfort. "

I guess that's the reason that Russ Nelson and his sweet wife were picture flying First Class to somewhere. It all started with David O McKay.

"it would be better for the Church and for the Rotary Club for him to travel in safety and comfort. "

Good for the leaders to be comfortable. The average member...no so much.

Are non first class seats not safe enough?

Correct DVT risk on long flights increases in the smaller cramped seats.

I always believed that being in the back of the plane was safer. After all, how many times have you heard of a plane backing into a mountain?

OK..jokes aside. Isn't it true that it is typically safer in the back?

Yes. Unless your seat is across from the lav.

It's true, those in the back live longer!

I'm not sure it matters where you're sitting if a plane flies into a mountain at 550 miles an hour, or into the ocean for that matter.

No, but it does if you crash on landing or takeoff. Rear seats are less likely to have casualties.

Remember that the Lord requires members to be miserable and sacrifice everything to the church. Who cares if the members' teeth rot when they sell their gold fillings for a temple.

And to think that all those laymen of god would (and have) defended these sleazeballs in their claim that the brethren are so careful and frugal with the SACRED tithes.

"No they never think of themselves. They sacrifice their comfort to serve. You see Messy, they are truly humble servants and live so meekly. Look at the Pope and his fancy church. That's an abominable sight to the Lord" said a stake president when I had the gall to ask him about how well the Q15 really lived. Silly me!
